What personal data I collect and why I collect it
Personal data is not just created by a user’s interactions with this website. Personal data is also generated from technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics.
By default WordPress does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users. However, this website uses the following plugins: Yoast SEO, Jetpack and Askimet Anti-Spam. This website is also linked to Google Analytics, and it has a contact form. While Yoast SEO in specifically to support the SEO and Askimet is a spam detector, with JetPack I can see how many views and subscriptions my website have, and which are the top pages. I do not see personal details of anyone via JetPack. As for Google Analytics, please refer to the paragraph below.
As for the data collected via the contact form, please refer to the paragraph below.
I do not have any transactional data, such as purchase information, because I do not sell via website.
Collecting data help me understanding better my public, in order to send newsletters, adapt my communication and have a better interaction with you. I do sell your data to third parties.
Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service, called Askimet Anti-Spam. Comments are allowed upon approval.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
By default, WordPress does not include a contact form. However, I have enclosed one on this website. This contact form collects your name and email as mandatory; you are free to leave the url/the name of your website/blog, if you have one. I collect your name and email for customer service purpose, with no expiry date. If you wish not to be in my database, send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or at email@example.com and write in the subject “please unsubscribe me”.
I do not sell your data to third parties.
Optional data are those you decide voluntarily to share with me in the message/as a comment/via email. However, I do not keep them.
This website collects cookies, which are – easily speaking – files automatically created when you visit a website and/or when you leave a comment; the browser on your computer/phone memorizes them. These are for your convenience so that the website becomes faster next time you’ll be visiting it and/or you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. The cookies last for one year. You can delete cookies from your computer/phone whenever you want.
The cookies on this website are the ones that WordPress installs by default.
This website does not require log-in to be visited. No page is hidden and/or accessible only by log-in.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
By default, WordPress does not collect any analytics data. However, I use Google Analytics. With Google Analytics, I can have access to the following information as for the last 26 months: number of visitors, visitors’ behavior on my website, type of public (sex, age, location, personal preferences). I use this information just to better understand my audience.
Do I share your data with anyone?
By default, WordPress does not share any personal data with anyone. I do not share any personal data with anyone.
How long I retain your data?
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Data collected via Google Analytics expire after 26 months. Data collected by contact form never expire, unless you ask for cancellation by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, writing in the subject “please unsubscribe me”. What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request that I erase any of them. If you subscribed by filling the contact form, you can request to be unsubscribed. These actions do not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where are your data going
This website has a hosting service, which is called Siteground and is based in Spain, EU. This means that all the data are retained in the European Union. If you leave a comment, your data are checked by the antispam plugin Askimet, offered by WordPress and installed in this website.
How I protect your data
I keep your data safe not sending them/not showing them to anyone. I am the sole person working in The Dots Connection as this is a consultancy, not a company. Your data are collected and retained by third parties as explained above: by the hosting service and by the antispam plugin, by WordPress, via Google Analytics, via the contact form, via comments. This website does not sell anything online, it is just a vitrine.
